■ミシシッピ州クラークスデイルの分益小作人の家に生まれる。
継父のウィルムーアにギターを習う。
メンフィス、デトロイトと移り、昼は工場で掃除夫として働き夜はナイトクラブで演奏する。
1948年、モダンレコードで録音をし以後デトロイトブルースの大看板として活躍する。
2001.6.21 死亡。

Charles who had difficulty dealing with it returned Robert keeping a family name named Spenser to the cause of mother who lived in Robinsonville. Julia of mother marries again with new husband Willy Dusty Stewills in October, 1916, and Robert will be brought up by these two people.
